Technology is really changing our lives and oftentimes, it provides a lot of benefits. We cannot deny how much technology has improved our everyday lives by leaps and bounds. However, there is also a downside to technology. It can also be damaging to us.
Biotechnology is one of these. It has given rise to GMOs or genetically-modified organisms. These refer to organisms with altered DNA such as crops which have been modified to improve resistance to pests, droughts, harsh environments, among others. Unfortunately, since these are used as food, its new genetic make-up can have harmful effects.
This is why Babes Against Biotech formed an organization that will encourage people to seek help in calling for GMO-free food. We cannot allow these plants, be it from farms, gardens, or grown in specially designed glass houses to endanger our health because of GMO experimentation. Countries, towns and islands can be poisoned by these agrochemically produced crops. We must all be careful of how we impact the environment whether it is the car we drive or the services we use like Yuma HVAC install or Tucson garage door repair.
Hawaii, for example has an open air laboratory for testing these genetically modified crops. While developing these pesticides resistant GMOs, the surrounding communities have been exposed to unpleasant amounts of restricted pesticides. They continue to allow these genetically-engineered chemical experiments to take place there which causes a lot of problems for the people living there. We can’t just let these continue when it poses a lot of risks for people.
The thing is, most processed foods have GMO additives. The problem is, if genetically modified foods are known to be toxic to animals, what kind of effect can it pose to us humans, who eat these kinds of foods? We eat to be healthy and not to be ill.
Our organization, as an active advocate against GMO foods, intend to find solutions for the agricultural crisis in Hawaii brought about by genetically-engineered crops. We seek to educate community leaders, farmers and small business owners on the effect of GMOs. While doing so, we attempt to speak our minds about biotechnology as well.
